Illustrating for children is by far, the best job in the entire universe!  I LOVE MY JOB!!!  I also get to work with the most amazing people in children’s publishing!

My final artwork is totally digital.  Most illustrations begin with a simple pencil sketch that I scan into my computer.  I use Illustrator and/or Photoshop to complete the draft.  Once it’s approved, I use the same programs to finalize the illustration.  All of this would not be possible without a Wacom Tablet—or graphics tablet.  It’s as easy as using a pen or pencil on paper!  My dream is to own a Wacom Cintiq…

Currently, I live in Danville, Virginia.  My studio crew includes Baylie the beagle; Lexi, the beagle/hound mix puppy; Josie, a big hairy cat; a 5 gallon tank of very resilient fish and 1 beta!  My daughter is working on her BFA at James Madison University and my son has his degree in Network Engineering.

I try to get out and walk or cycle every day.  Danville has a beautiful trail system that follows the Dan River.
